Question: Is the economy on the rebound?
Answer: “Politicians tell us recovery is underway. But can you believe politicians? Are they spinning political hype? Look at the causes of inflation – we’re not out of the woods yet.”
Question: What are the causes of inflation?
Answer: “After Covid stuck politicians spent trillions, money they didn’t have. So they borrowed (printed money would be a better word) to pay for their skyrocketing spending. But printing trillions came with a price – it made a dollar worth less. That caused inflation. Prices shot up on everything from hamburgers to gasoline and working families, and family businesses, struggled.”
Question: Is raising interest rates a way to stop inflation?
Answer: “It can help. But, at the same time, it brings a whole new set of threats. For years, to make wealthy elites and political donors happy, politicians kept interest rates low. However there was enough spillover to help middle class families. If a working family wanted to buy a home, with low interest rates they paid less. If a small businessman needed a loan to grow his business, he paid less. But, as a result, we now have record high debt per citizen – and soaring interest rates led to several problems: Unlike politicians, banks can’t sit and wait when inflation erodes their assets. If you need to move, or renew your home mortgage, you end up paying a higher interest rate that costs you more. Worse, your bank may refuse to renew your mortgage. Right now, we have a couple hundred billion dollars in distressed real estate – that’s a sign of another black cloud on the horizon.”
Question: What can we do to turn the economy around?
Answer: “We have to stop this storm before it turns into a hurricane. But politicians can’t do that. Politicians don’t solve problems – they create problems. We need leaders with common sense who’ll tell politicians, No more. Enough. Stop.”
Question: What about our border?
Answer: “We should secure the border and stop illegal immigration. Period.”
Question: What about crime?
Answer: “Every day you read stories about murders, robberies, drug crimes. Our first line of defense to stop crime is police officers. We have to support the police, arrest criminals, and after a quick, fair trial send threatening criminals to jail.”
Question: Where do you stand on gun control?
Answer: “I support the right to keep and bear arms. I’ve owned guns for years.”
Question: What can we do to improve education?
Answer: “First, children need to be safe in our schools. I support school resource officers. Beyond that schools should educate not indoctrinate students. Using schools to push agendas like political correctness or to promote political ideologies doesn’t improve education.”
Question: What’s your take on the two recent Supreme Court rulings?
Answer: “The Court’s rulings on ‘Affirmative Action’ and ‘Freedom of Religion’ were right. I support both.”
Question: Where do you stand on abortion?
Answer: I believe life begins at conception. I’m pro-life. I would allow exceptions in cases of rape, incest, and when a mother’s life is in danger.
Question: What’s the toughest threat our country faces?
Answer: “That brings us back to the economy. Republicans, Democrats and Independents usually disagree on issues but they all do agree our country’s headed in the wrong direction. That’s the result of broken politics. As I said earlier, politicians don’t solve problems – they create problems. To stop inflation we need leaders with common sense who’ll tell politicians, No more. Enough. Stop.”
